Clean Energy is Cheap Energy

The use of fossil fuels for energy in our nation is beyond the realm of acceptable. America, the so-called world leader, is lagging in technology and development where clean energy is concerned. Although alternatives have been discussed for decades, only recently has the “green revolution” spread like fever throughout our country. Businesses, organizations and individuals alike have finally acknowledged that fossil fuels are inundated and are causing widespread damage to our environment.

The use of energy based on water or wind propulsion, for example, rely on sustainable resources and can, therefore, be used for an immeasurable amount of time. The use of coal, oil and other natural resources is not only time sensitive, but it is also dangerous. Current debates on mine safety are under way across the Appalachian region. Likewise, the damange presented by arsenic runoff during mountaintop removal mining is challenging the health of residents in regions with such practice underway. The oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico doesn’t even warrant mention as the damage is sickening.

The development and implementation of energy alternatives is likely going to require a great deal of money. The long-term savings to both energy customers and suppliers, however, is priceless. The risk to our environment will be elimiated, as will the worry of depletion of natural resources. It’s truly a win-win situation.
